I started The Comms Studio because throughout my work in the development sector, I came to realise that communications, visibility, and design were dealt with as an afterthought. More often than not comms teams are left out of strategic planning sessions, siloed or are consulted only after important decisions have already been made. This really undermines the power of communications and the ability it has to identify opportunities and risks, when engaged with properly. Used strategically, communications and visibility are crucial to achieving long-term objectives and policy goals.
Here at The Comms Studio, we work with our clients on a broad range of communication services - from strategic planning to designing impactful infographics, we do it all. We have a passion for taking complex, jargony information and transforming it to digestible messages that resonate with whatever audience our client is trying to reach.
The Comms Studio is a one-woman show, but when the need calls for it, it’s also a dependable network of freelance designers, strategists and writers. No project is too small or too big, so get in touch.
Growing up between the Middle East, Africa, the Gulf and Australia, I was always fascinated by the use of language - in all of its many forms - and how it shapes power, identity and perception. That is the reason why I pursued a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and International Relations from the University of Western Australia and a masters degree in Media, Communication and Development from the London School of Economics.
I’m interested in tackling complex issues through impactful and easy-to-understand comms. I help organizations to find their unique voice to tell the stories that matter. Throughout my career, I have worked mostly with international organizations and foreign diplomatic missions as a communications specialist. With these organizations, I have had the opportunity to work on a number of social impact topics ranging from: migration and reception of refugees to education, women and youth empowerment, food security, water, climate and so much more.
In my capacity as communications specialist over the past 10 years, I’ve worked on everything from strategy development, messaging, social media management, video editing, graphic design, and website design.
